Funky Cowgirl Editorial Photoshoot | Oklahoma City Studio Session

All things modern, western, editorial, glitzy, funky

There’s something about a shoot where you can be as creative as you want that always hits, but this one really took my breath away. This funky, glitzy, cowgirl off-duty editorial came together last minute in the studio, and it ended up being one of those shoots where everything just WORKED!!!

Shot at a studio just outside Oklahoma City near Deer Creek, the objective to create something bold, have fun and maybe even get a little editorial. This studio is brand new to OKC and is now open for bookings. They even have a variety of memberships that are GREAT if you’re in the studio a lot!

Going into the shoot, we knew we wanted something funky, but didn’t have a fully locked-in vision, I basically just told my model (and good friend), Emily, I want you to wear something funky.

I brought along an oversized blazer and some funky sunglasses, , and that combination was the cherry on top. What started as just a glitzy shoot turned into a modern, fashion-forward cowgirl look that felt so elevated.

The camera LOVES Emily, and she is my go-to girl. Her cowboy hat was made for her and she just turns it on when I start shooting.

Studio shoots like this give so much room to experiment. We didn’t need a huge setup or an overly complex concept, sometimes it’s just about a few strong pieces, good light, willingness to see where the shoot takes you and letting things evolve naturally.

This shoot is a perfect example of how last-minute decisions can end up defining the entire look.

If you’ve been wanting something a little different than a traditional session, editorial-style shoots like this are always one of my favorites to create. Whether you have a full vision or just a vibe in mind, we can build something unique together.

I always recommend for shoots like this to totally lean into the vibe. No need to tone yourself down, it’s all about letting loose!
